For an inaugural blog post, I am explaining my motivation for this website.
I want an easy place I can reference for live music in town. I’ve missed too many shows because they weren't easy enough to find.
This was simple when every major American city had an alternative weekly like the City Pages where you could find upcoming concerts and read about local artists. Between the relentless appropriation of ad dollars by tech giants and the Covid pandemic, too many of these publications died.
It’s exciting to see new online and print publications popping up again in the Twin Cities, and together I hope we connect fans, artists and venues to encourage a thriving cultural scene.
This is a brand new project, so please contact us with any feedback. All of it is really valuable at this early stage.
In future posts I’ll start writing more about concerts, local bands and venues, along with more musings about the music industry in general.
